When I tell people that I teach math, the response generally falls into one of a few boxes: 1) Wow, you must be smart. 2) I used to be good at math until…. 3) I always hated math. You get the picture.
Well, I believe that while some mathematics is mentally challenging, it is not as bad as some might think. If you’d like to know more about why I think this, then come back, starting next Wednesday, for a series of posts that will shed light on ways I approach math. While I cannot guarantee that everything said will be applicable to your situation, I hope it will serve as a blueprint for engaging the subject and finding success.
Based on my experiences as a student, educator, and parent, I hope to provide someone with helpful tips on topics such as developing a math mindset, navigating the material, and managing relationships with peers/instructors.
