ABOUT

FOUNDER

I am Dr. Richard Noble III, an educator with over twenty years of mathematics teaching experience. In those years, I have taken numerous opportunities to broaden and encourage participation in mathematics/science among underrepresented groups.  While a graduate teaching assistant at Michigan State, I worked with the Charles Drew Science Enrichment Laboratory, a program designed to provide academic and social support for high achieving students pursuing science and math degrees.  At Kettering University, I provided additional student support by offering my services at tutorials provided by the university’s Office of Multicultural Student Initiatives (OMSI).  Other efforts include: Labs for Learning (North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics), a summer program designed to serve underrepresented, high-potential, middle school students in an effort to broaden access to accelerated high school math/science courses, STEM majors and STEM careers, and the Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) program (North Carolina A&T), designed to increase the number of minority students who remain in the sciences pipeline and consequently pursue terminal degrees in the biomedical sciences.  Finally, I voluntarily tutored at two high schools where I primarily worked with African American male students.  Because of these opportunities and my experiences as an educator, I fully support initiatives that seek to empower all students, but particularly students of color, in mathematics. I was educated at Jackson State University (B.S., Mathematics), University of Wisconsin-Madison (M.S., Curriculum and Instruction), Michigan State University (Advanced Study, Mathematics Education), and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Ph.D., Education – Curriculum, Culture, and Change).

ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION

To support and enhance mathematics proficiency among students to encourage interest in careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). While our primary focus is underrepresented, culturally diverse students, we are inclusive and maintain open doors to all. Specifically, we provide opportunities in mathematics as well as other educational and cultural experiences through partnerships with relevant entities to fully develop each student into a confident, lifelong learner, capable of working independently or collectively and capable of significant contributions to an evolving global society.

  • A signature program is High-Impact Tutoring. This includes skill assessment, tailored support, and rigorous coaching.
  • A past signature program was a structured mentoring program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. This program was directly aligned with the mission of the American Psychological Association’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Recruitment, Retention and Training in Psychology (CEMRRAT).
